Golden Globes 2014

I love the Golden Globes because I get to see all my favorite movie people and TV people dressing up and being awesome all in one place. While I was let down by Jennifer Lawrence's weird Ariel-wearing-a-sail outfit, she did make a great photobomb, and Tina/Amy's wonderfulness blinded me from any truly awful styling choices.

Here are my top 5 looks from the night:

Lupita Nyong'o in Ralph Lauren
Probably my favorite look of the night, Lupita absolutely killed it in Ralph Lauren. The color, the cape, the minimalistic styling. I gasped when I saw it.

Olivia Wilde in Gucci Premiere
It's no secret that I idealize Olivia Wilde in every way; her hair, her style, her interpretive dance skills, her choice of husband (the ever so lucky Jason Sudekis). This dress, which, I might add, perfectly hugs her baby bump, is just another part of Olivia Wilde for me to idealize.

Elizabeth Moss in J. Mendel
During the show I genuinely just continually repeated how much I loved Elizabeth Moss's dress. The color, the texture, it's all perfect. AND! She won best actress in a mini-series for her phenomenal show, Top of the Lake, and accepted her award in the most adorable way.

Cate Blanchett in Armani
Ever since I saw her in Givenchy Couture at the 2011 Oscars, I've admired Cate Blanchett's bold red carpet style. This Armani gown did not disappoint, with just the right amount of sheer and a high neck/low back combo, Cate looked as amazing as ever.

Finally, Tina Fey in Carolina Herrera and Amy Poehler in Stella McCartney
These two are just the best friends in the whole world and I desperately wish they would let me be best friends with them too. They also looked absolutely amazing in every one of their three gowns (and the one suit that Amy whipped out), but these two were my absolute favorite.

Emmy's Red Carpet Review

After a bit of a break from posting and a very busy start to the year, I'm finally getting back to blogging!

While I didn't actually get to watch the award show or the red carpet, I'm still really excited about the looks from the Emmys this weekend (mostly because I watch too much TV so I love all the people wearing the looks). Because I'm so excited, I'm just going to focus on the gowns that worked rather than even think about those that didn't.

First off, Cobie Smulders in J. Mendel. How I Met Your Mother is definitely up there in my top 5 favorite shows so I know that Cobie looks phenomenal almost constantly. But this gown/hair/makeup/accessorizing combo is simply drop dead gorgeous.

January Jones in Givenchy. I always love Givenchy, the gowns are typically ethereal and incredibly detailed, always making the person wearing them look like some kind of princess from the future. But this dress has a really nice simplicity and traditional shape to it that compliment the details of the lace quite well.

Kerry Washington in Marchesa. I mean talk about princesses. Kerry Washington looks like what I can only hope my fairy godmother would look like were I lucky enough to have one.

Kaley Cuoco in Vera Wang. I love Kaley Cuoco. I want Kaley Cuoco to be my best friend and then I want her to let me borrow this dress.

Rose Byrne in Calvin Klein Collection. I absolutely love Calvin Klein for the red carpet. There's something about the simplicity of this style of gown that makes it so much more interesting than nearly everything else I saw from the Emmys.

Laura Dem in Naeem Kan. I know I literally just said I love the simplicity of a Calvin Klein gown, but Naeem Kan just does the intricately detailed, beaded gown so well.

Kiernan Shipka in Delpozo. Little Kiernan, always age appropriate as well as overwhelmingly beautiful. I love the floral theme, especially in the metallic 3D flowers on the skirt.

Side note: It wasn't until I'd run through a compilation of red carpet photos looking for my favorites that I realized I nearly entirely picked blush toned gowns. Apparently I'm really into blush right now.

Cannes Film Festival

One of my best friends is currently volunteering at the Cannes Film Festival, so while she stands mere feet away from my favorite celebrities wearing my favorite designers, I'm attempting to bury my jealousy in red carpet photos.

First of all, doesn't this shot of Leo, Carey, and Baz Luhrmann just melt your little heart?

And how about that Christian Dior gown?

Nicole Kidman, also killing it in Christian Dior. That whimsical dress with those hot pink Barbie heels is driving me crazy in the absolute best way.

Last but not least, Emma Watson, one of my very favorite people because not only is she beautiful, stylish, and talented, but she's ridiculously sweet and down to earth to boot. Check out this article here. She looked amazing in both Christopher Kane at the photocall and Chanel at the Bling Ring premier. Bonus points for the ear cuff paired with Chanel.
